Dopamine surged my entire system right after our teacher assigned us to our respective groupings. I was enveloped with contentment and happiness when I finally met my group mates. Later on, all groups were branded with math-related names and our group got the ‘Computer’ name. Computers which are vital in every student’s life, and are also a big part in the development of the civilization.
On the 3rd week of March 2014, our group was scheduled to handle, inform and drown our classmates with computer-related information. Games were first introduced to them on the 19th of March as a form of an interactive way of learning some terminologies and ideas associated to computers. Typing game, which I took care with much passion, logo identification, and computer history quiz were some of the games that were laid unto them. And with all those games, the Algebra group got the highest mark of 100, followed by the Number Systems with 96, then by the Geometry with 89, and lastly by the Statistics group with a total score of 80 over 100. Even though the weather did not match the excitement which I have felt during that day, the overall class atmosphere was outstanding. All of the groups participated with such enthusiasm that could lift up the gloomy and sad clouds in the murky heavens.
And on the 21st of March, both the debate and the group video presentation were introduced to the rest of the class. For the debate, we tackled about whether to punish illegal internet pirates or not. I am the leader of the opposition team during the debate, sitting side by side with Claire and Ivy. We argued that internet pirates should not be punished since most of the people nowadays prefer free subscriptions. Internet piracy also helps singers, actresses, and as well as directors to be well known to the citizens and be more famous. For convenience, we opt to internet piracy to watch or stream our favorite television episodes at our most convenient time. And lastly, it is impractical to punish and put all the pirates behind bars. A very huge space is needed in order to accommodate millions of pirates all through out the world, which is by the way lacking nowadays. And with the help of the audience, our side, the opposition side, won the argument. After the breathtaking encounter, the video presentation was played for them to watch. The plot of the story revolves around a murder which happened at the university. The brilliant students of the murdered computer instructor found the dead body, decided to perform their own investigations with the help of computers, and found out that the blood they have taken from the victim was proven to be of a cat’s. Thus, the murderer has an obvious fetish for cats. I played the role of an emo student, always listening to Avril’s music, portraying a character which has no absolute care to her surroundings. Claire was the always-drunk type of a student, Omid as the bright student, Edwin as the most genius human being on the planet, ate Kiss as the sassy always-doing-selfie chick student, ate Klimpol as the murdered instructor, and Ivy as the cat fetish murderer. Well, the video presentation was clearly a success given that the audience laughed, even mocked, and reacted to some of the parts of the presentation where computers are mentioned. That’s their way of showing how entertained they were. They clearly appreciated our group’s work, and that’s why I can say that the entire Computer Week was a success!
