The might of Perspective

Most mathematicians in the Golden age of mathematics are from Europe. Somehow, they were recognized worldly for their works, practices and ideas. In the film, Satuoy had toured the European continent for the famous mathematicians that had great contributions to the development of human knowledge.

Great thinkers of before had significantly applied the use of the power of perspective as mathematical basis. Objects can be distinguished and be described mathematically. Geometry has been leading and influencing mathematics significantly. Subjects such as calculus, quantum physics, traditional physics and other fields are all based on the calculations of figures and forms represented by numbers. Shortly, Geometry is neatly interacting with algebra.

It was clearly seen by mathematicians Descartes, de Fermat, Newton, Euler and the rest. Descartes had incorporated the dualistic theory of mental and physical thoughts. On his bed meditations, he proposed the idea which I must have done when in math class “to do math, remove all distractions and float on shapes and numbers”.  Newton was famous for the Gravity theory. However, I didn’t know that he had initiated the subject Calculus on his fields. It was followed by Gottfried Leibnitz who had devised the actual differential and integral Calculus system independent of Newton. There were issues that Newton has given more credit with the discovery of Calculus than Leibnitz. It is unfortunate of him that Leibnitz wasn’t generally recognized as the icon of Calculus. Despite, his low recognition, he still has his disciples known as the Bernoulli’s. They are known as good mathematicians and was highly honored by people.

Another mathematician was famous for his discovery of a certain pattern of prime numbers. His study was recognized to be a hundred years ahead. It was beautifully thought and made.

I was not able to catch up with the rest of the mathematicians, yet upon knowing the background and the ideas of the few I had known, I thought of the greatness of their contributions to the society and advanced sciences we have today. Almost everything has a specific interaction with math specifically the marriage of perspective and numbers.
