Number Systems written report.

I really can’t remember if our group won the first game in Math1 but one thing is for sure, our group chose the Number Systems. We chose the topic because we think it is the simplest of all topics in this subject. We were asked to make presentations and a debate with matching games for our whole performance in the class. We were given two meetings to do those. Our group had decided to present a debate in the first meeting and a game after it and for the second meeting, we will be presenting a made video that is somehow connected with mathematics also with a game after.
That was Sunday when we decided to shoot for our video presentation. The story was written by Jessy Pangoy and she was also the director of it. The story was about a student who wanted to burn the whole school by placing bombs in the sprinklers around the campus. The main character, played by Julius, was also a student who was a son of the Dean and he was also very smart in math. The student who wanted to burn the school, which role was played by Khristine, called Julius and asked him to solve the problems to stop the bomb. They were actually best friends but Julius doesn’t know any about Khristine’s plans. Then they started to solve a lot of mathematical problems which have clues in them to obtain the code needed. There were also some students and a teacher who hated their school so much but Khristine’s main reason why she wanted to burn the school was because her sister whom she loved so much had an accident during their fieldtrip and became cripple in her whole life. They blamed the school for this. In the end, Julius knew the code and stopped the bomb. He also knew that the whole problem solving was just because of Khristine, his bestfriend. The video contained lessons about the number systems while the two characters were solving the problems. The lesson included the base conversions which are the decimal, binary, octal and hexadecimal. The different numeration systems were also included in the video.
Actually, we had a hard time choosing a topic for our debate. Then at last, we decided to debate about what could be more important in this generation and in the future. Could it be decimal or binary? Then we divided the work, who would defend the binary and the decimal. That was Wednesday which was our first meeting as presenters when we presented the debate. The debate lasted for almost an hour and as a result, the decimal system won the debate. After the debate, we played an outdoor game. The groups were asked to decipher the clues given to them and find papers containing numeration system problems which they needed to convert into another numeration system. The papers were scattered around the CSM. The groups were not allowed to talk to minimize noise. Each problem has a point and so, the more problems they solve, the higher their score will be. We tabulated their scores after the game.
In the second meeting, we presented the video we made to the whole class. It went perfectly and the class was amazed, gladly. After that, we played a game again. Each group was asked to send four students in the stage to play the level 1. They formed a line to play the game properly. The first person in the line must say any two digit number only containing 1 and 0. Then the person next to him/her will say the digits again and add another digit only containing 1 and 0. It will continue to the next people and whoever said the wrong combination of numbers will be out of the game. Only four students were left and declared as winners. For the second round, same mechanics were given but only two students per group were required to say a number with any word or thing.

Some groups had their points but there were also groups who were so unlucky that they have no points gained at all. Those two meetings that we handled were somehow memorable for me. I hope our classmates enjoyed our presentations.
